Bosch Automotive Connectors and Breakout Leads for Diagnostics
Bosch Automotive Connectors and Breakout Leads
The Bosch ACS Compact Series connectors are suitable for Bosch diesel fuel systems and are fitted to a wide variety of vehicles with diesel injectors and control valves. This includes common vehicles from VW, Audi, Citroen, BWW, Peugeot, Renault, Vauxhall and Ford to name a few. But there may come a time when a vehicle fitted with these items suffers a fault and a technician will need to diagnose and repair the problem.
Here we look at the breakout leads using Bosch ACS connectors used to enable diagnostics with an oscilloscope or digital multimeter and replacement connector kits available from Warwick Test Supplies.
Bosch 2 Way ACS Automotive Connector Breakout Lead
This break out lead assembly features a 2 Way ACS male and female connector and two standard 4mm banana sockets. It has been specifically designed to connect to 2 pin Bosch Automotive Connectors which are commonly found in Common Rail Diesel Injector vehicles.
The lead enables an automotive technician to connect to a specific connector found within the vehicle loom and conduct diagnostic voltage and current measurements of various sensors, actuators and components. The individual wire connections are colour coded (Red and Green) for identification and enable easy access with a current (Amp) clamp so that wires can be tested in-circuit allowing both current and voltage measurements to be taken simultaneously.
The output signals from the breakout lead banana sockets can be connected via a BNC to 4mm Banana Plug Patch Lead to a handheld or PC based automotive oscilloscopes. The industries popular instruments include those from; PicoScope, Hantek, TiePie, CarScope, Sealey, Snap-On and Bosch.
Application Examples:
- Diesel fuel system diagnostics with an Oscilloscope;
- Diesel injector diagnostics with an Oscilloscope;
- Diesel control valve diagnostic with an Oscilloscope;
- Preventing damage to connectors caused by back probing pins.
Bosch ACS 2 Way Automotive connector Part numbers:
2 Way Female Compact Connector 1.a Bosch Part No. 1928403698
2 Way Bosch Male Coupling Connector Bosch Part No. 1928404226
Bosch 3 Way ACS Automotive Connector Breakout Lead
This break out lead assembly features a 3 Way ACS Compact Series male and female connector and three standard 4mm banana sockets. It has been specifically designed to connect to 3 pin Bosch Automotive Connectors which are commonly found in rail pressure sensors in numerous vehicles.
The lead enables an automotive technician to connect to a specific connector found within a vehicle loom and conduct diagnostic voltage and current measurements of various sensors, actuators and components.
Application examples:
- Diesel fuel system diagnostics with an Oscilloscope;
- Diesel injector diagnostics with an Oscilloscope;
- Diesel control valve diagnostic with an Oscilloscope;
- Prevents damage to the connectors caused by back probing pins.
The 3way Bosch Automotive Connector Breakout lead also requires a BNC to 4mm banana plugs patch lead to connect to either a handheld or PC based automotive oscilloscope.

Automotive Connector Kits
One of the first diagnostic checks that a technician may do is a visual check of a connector or a voltage drop test to identify if the connector is suffering from high resistance. It can often be established that one of the terminals has suffered some damage or has become loose. This can be caused by poor probing in the past causing the terminal to expand or just down to the amount of vibration that the connector has to put up with in its running environment. Either way the simple fix is to replace the connector.
Having decided to replace the connector it can be difficult to identify exactly the right connector along with all the correct part numbers for the terminals and seals to make sure that all the parts fit and work as they should.
Knowing how difficult this can be Warwick Test Supplies provides a range of pre-kitted Automotive Connector kits to make the technicians life easier. Don't waste time hunting down all the part numbers just browse through our stock of the more common connectors from; Bosch, Delphi, Deutsch, AMP and Kostal safe in the knowledge that if you order before 2pm then you will have them the next day.
